The artist's statement
Art is a way for me to express the complexities of life through multiple mediums. In my art, just as is in life with a multitude of things, you will encounter a rather simple looking thing that in reality is not so straightforward. An example:
Seeming unclear or obscured at first, you might lack knowledge or just a general sense of understanding whilst you are in the midst of a situation, to see and think about it clearly. This could be a new topic of study, or a conflict of sorts, or a relationship, anything that is part of being human. Either that or an incomplete understanding can lead to emotions to lead the way, a perilous path to follow really.
This path is one you will have to tread on, in a way. I enjoy leaving much of meaning hidden in plain sight, making it so that only with more knowledge one can see the full picture. So it is more of a literal and visual translation of this concept.
Besides this, other themes and topics can be found too. Since there are a terribly large amount of topics and themes that are pretty interesting, (more aptly put: interest me), enough to encapsulate.
Our beliefs can be challenged and disrupted through new experiences.
Part of my artistic pursuit, at least at this stage, is to capture just that. The underlying narratives and lessons of life have a prominent role in my art.
If I’m granted people to be inspired by (any of) my works, that would be a fantastic achievement.

MADE IN THE NETHERLANDS
The artist
His likeness recreated in this uncompleted early self-portrait.
"The art should speak for itself and not be influenced by those who made it. The art is already the result of a sum made up of knowledge and experiences an artist collected throughout his or her life.
To make my art speak for itself, to have you experience it the way I have intended, I choose not to give away information about myself that might influence this experience."
- Sigert de Waal.
